Game Night returns to Dover library
DOVER — Game Night is starting up again at Dover Public Library on Wednesday, Sept. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Lecture Hall. Games will be provided, but players are welcome to bring their own to share as well. Some of the games available include Carcassonne, Scrabble, Monopoly, Settlers of Catan, Uno, Forbidden Island, and Tsuro. This event is primarily geared towards ages 12 and up, but families and all ages are welcome to join in the fun. You do not need a library card to come play! Nina Totenberg to speak at Music Hall
PORTSMOUTH – The Writers on a New England Stage series will present award-winning NPR Correspondent Nina Totenberg talking about her highly anticipated new memoir, “Dinners with Ruth,” on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m.
The 7 p.m. event will include an author presentation and on-stage interview with Hannah McCarthy, host of New Hampshire Public Radio’s Civics 101. The event will take place at The Music Hall, 28 Chestnut St., Portsmouth.
Tickets are $15. For each ticket sold, the purchase of a book voucher (Dinners with Ruth, $28 hardcover) is required. Vouchers can be redeemed on the event night for copies of “Dinners with Ruth” with a signed bookplate. Seacoast Science Center marks 30th birthday
RYE – The Seacoast Science Center has been an anchor institution for coastal and marine science education since it opened its doors in 1992. Located in Odiorne Point State Park in Rye, it will hold a 30th Birthday Celebration on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. Held under their festive seaside tent, the event will include giant lawn games, dancing with The Music Man DJ, a silent auction, libations, and a light dinner catered by Thyme + TIDE. Lecture presents History of Imported Textiles
SOUTH BERWICK, Maine — Old Berwick Historical Society will present an online lecture by textile historian Titi Halle on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 7:30 p.m. “From Chinese Silks to Indian Cottons: New England’s Imported Textiles and Their Imitations” explores the wide variety of silks and cottons from China and India available in New England in the 17th to 19th centuries, and how they were used in furnishing and dress. The lecture is free and open to the public, registration is required. Register at oldberwick.org. The lecture will be recorded and posted to the society’s website.
Community Art Painting
PORTSMOUTH — On Friday, Sept. 23 from 4 to 6 p.m. come create a community masterpiece that will hang in the Education Center for all to see at Creek Farm. Jean Cumings from Picture This Studios will lead participants step-by-step through painting your own section of this beautiful mural that highlights where the forest meets the tides, which has already been sketched out. Kittery 375th Birthday Bash
KITTERY – There’ll be a 375th Birthday Bash from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 23 at the Kittery Community Center outdoors on the Frisbee Lawn.
The Kittery School Department and Kittery 375th Committee will host an evening filled with carnival games, bounce houses, an obstacle course, dessert walk, pony rides, PNS STEM activities, tasty food and tons of fun.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of game tickets will go to support the Kittery PTA and the Pam Hoyt Sanborn Scholarship Fund. For more info, visit kittery375th.com.
Comedian Eugene Mirman at 3S Artspace
PORTSMOUTH – Comedian/actor Eugene Mirman kicks off his I’m Late For My Meeting in the Lake Comedy Tour in Portsmouth on Friday, Sept 23 at 8 p.m. at 3S Artspace. A hugely popular stand-up, many fans also know Mirman as the voice of “Gene” on the Emmy winning animated TV show Bob’s Burgers and The Bob’s Burgers Movie and in the brand new movie “Confess, Fletch.”
Local fans will also know Eugene from the now-infamous time he visited Portsmouth and he received a parking ticket and then turned the experience into one of his best jokes which also went viral and his letter about it was also included in the Portsmouth Summer Guide. Fairy House Tour this weekend
PORTSMOUTH – The Fairy House Tour will take place Saturday, Sept.24 and Sunday, Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m, rain or shine. There’ll be hundreds of enchanting fairy houses on display on the grounds of Strawbery Banke Museum, Governor John Langdon House, Prescott Park Arts Festival and The Gundalow Company. Presented by Friends of the South End, all proceeds benefit local schools and nonprofits.
The Southern New Hampshire Dance Theatre will perform a 20-minute excerpt of their original Fairy Dance Ballet on the Prescott Park Arts Festival stage at 11 a.m., noon, 1 and 2 p.m. both days.
Tickets are for one-day entry and include admission to each of the historic museums and their grounds. Tickets for a family (4 people, any combination of children ages 3 to 12) are $30 in advance, $35 at the gate; adults, $12 in advance, $15 at the gate; seniors, $8 in advance, $10 at the gate; children 3-12, $5 in advance, $7 at the gate; kids 3 and under free. Taste of Kittery set for Saturday
KITTERY – The 2nd annual Taste of Kittery will take place Saturday, Sept. 23 as part of the town’s 375th Birthday celebration. The event will showcase Kittery’s restaurant-rich culture. There’ll be food, beer, music and fun at the Post Office Square, 10 Shapleigh Road, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Seacoast Walk to End Alzheimer’s returns to Portsmouth
PORTSMOUTH – The Alzheimer’s Association Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter is inviting residents from Portsmouth and surrounding communities to participate in the Seacoast Walk to End Alzheimer’s at The Little Harbour School in Portsmouth on Sunday, Sept. 25.
Participants can choose to start a team, join a team, or walk as an individual during the annual fundraiser. The opening ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m. and the walk will begin at 10 a.m. To register online, visit alzwalkMANH.org.
Jazz Concert at Wentworth-Gardner Warehouse

Seacoast Jewish Center offers services for the High Holidays
PORTSMOUTH — With just a week before the start of the Jewish New Year, the Seacoast Jewish Center is offering a friendly and welcoming service for individuals of all ages in the Seacoast Jewish community at the Best Western Hotel in Portsmouth on Sept. 25, 26, 27 and Oct. 4, 5 for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services.
Also, The Seacoast Jewish Center will have a short 15-minute Community Tashlich and Shofar Service on Monday, Sept. 26, at 5 p.m., at the Pier at Prescott Park in Portsmouth.
